I am having a very difficult time accepting that the summer is coming to an end. I hate to see summer go but what a wonderful time of year this is. Beautiful days, comfortable evenings, and cool overnights, but not yet too cold.
So, all of this leads to thoughts of the beginning of a new school year. I remember my feelings of anticipation and excitement as both a student and a teacher. I remember the promise of new adventures, new friends and colleagues, and renewing friendships. Many of the emotions I felt leading up to the first day of school were later experienced with and through our children.
I hope that you will experience some of those same emotions this year on the first day of school by getting together with former colleagues to renew old friendships and make new friends. Most of our branches are holding events either on the first day of school or early in the new school year and I encourage you to attend and to bring a new or potential new member with you.
Your local NBSRT Executive organizes new school year events as a way to get former colleagues together to share some laughs and good company, and to celebrate our freedom to do only what we want to do on the first day of school. No buses, no school bells, no staff meetings. Please consider taking some time to enjoy fellowship with a group of kindred spirits.
I hope that your summer has been restful and full of time with family and friends. Now that it is winding down, I invite you to consider getting together with your former colleagues and friends in NBSRT to celebrate a re-kindled excitement and enthusiasm for our wonderful organization.
Please join your branch celebrations and spread the word.
Bob
